Job Description

Main Duties
  1. Lead on the development of business cases for renewable energy generation projects.
  2. Liaise with relevant district network operators to inform West Mercia Energy and its Member Authorities of opportunities.
  3. Work closely with the Member Authorities to understand the work currently being undertaken by each.
  4. Ensure the completion of feasibility studies to identify suitable sites and technologies for renewable energy projects.
  5. Liaise and collaborate with various stakeholders, such as landowners, developers, contractors, engineers, consultants, energy suppliers, network operators, and community groups to determine where appropriate opportunities exist within the infrastructure landscape to develop renewable projects.
  6. Ensure the preparation and submission of planning applications, permits, and contracts to secure the necessary approvals and funding for the projects.
  7. Actively seek out opportunities for funding to support the transition to renewable energy sources and infrastructure connections to the grid.
  8. Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  9. Identify and mitigate project risks where possible.
  10. Monitor and evaluate the performance, efficiency, and environmental impact of the projects.
  11. Work extensively with the Managing Director in the development of the strategic direction of West Mercia Energy in relation to supporting the Member Authorities and customers with their net zero carbon targets.
Qualifications
  1. Experience of working in the renewable energy sector.
  2. Experience of delivering consultancy services within the energy sector with a commitment to problem-solving in a collaborative way.
  3. Strong project management skills.
  4. Strong problem-solving, mathematical, financial modelling, and organisational skills.
  5. Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards.
  6. Commercial knowledge to capture and analyse market data to identify new opportunities.
