Job Description

Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity to join us as a Project Manager to support the growth in the High Voltage unit in the UK. Hitachi Energy is the global leader in High Voltage technology delivering all critical equipment to contribute to a Net-Zero electricity network.

The Opportunity:

In this key role, you'll liaise extensively with both internal and external stakeholders and be accountable to manage Gas Insulated Switchgear, Live Tank breakers, Hybrid technology solutions, and the rest of the HV portfolio projects. You will be at the sharp end of the customer experience requiring a proactive, results-driven approach within a fast-paced culture where you will drive results as you implement and execute your projects from setup through to final completion. Ensuring that all related activities are performed in accordance with Hitachi Energy policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, budgetary controls, and financial targets.

How you'll make an impact:

  1. Managing customer projects, from single unit switchgear deliveries to multi-million pounds Gas Insulated Switchgear projects.
  2. Work closely with factories, customers, and our Service team when required to ensure satisfactory delivery of the project.
  3. Commercial responsibility for the project financial KPIs: cost, revenues, cash flow.
  4. Making key decisions acting as the main point of contact with the customer.
  5. Planning and scheduling projects from start to completion.
  6. Following best practices according to policy and contractual agreements.
  7. Mitigating risks and acting as escalation point for project issues.
  8. Flexible approach, actively participating in driving the project plan forward and generating outcomes.
  9. Analysis of data, creating and sharing accurate project plans with regular updates.

Background:

  1. Engineering related degree (electrical desirable but not essential).
  2. Experience and understanding of High Voltage switchgear.
  3. Comprehension of the English language both spoken and in writing. Both fluent and accurate - able to negotiate at all levels internally and externally. Other languages are considered advantageous.
  4. Flexible to travel to UK customer sites and abroad to our manufacturing facilities as required.
  5. High attention to detail.
  6. Team player, who holds themselves accountable and is ready to collaborate with others committed to achieving the end goal.
  7. Financially literate - able to read financial statements and negotiate costs.
  8. Systematic, proactive approach and efficient time management.
