This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to strategic infrastructure initiatives that will shape the future of energy across England and Wales.
About the Role: As a Public/Policy Affairs Associate, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our client's Public Affairs & Policy efforts. Your work will help protect and enhance the organisation's reputation while enabling it to achieve its business objectives through integrated campaigns and strategic engagement. Your responsibilities will include:
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with key stakeholders across Westminster, Whitehall, and Devolved Administrations, including politicians, civil servants, and influential organisations.
Networking: Maintain a robust network of external contacts, proactively attending meetings, conferences, and events to promote our client's interests and share valuable insights back into the organisation.
Policy Development: Assist in coordinating responses to government consultations and contribute to executive briefings, board papers, and select committee engagements.
Strategic Insight: Anticipate current and future issues and trends, providing senior leaders with insights to inform business decisions.
Performance Tracking: Work with the Lead Public Affairs Manager to set and measure KPIs for campaigns, regularly tracking progress.
Crisis Management: Act as the public affairs lead in the Corporate Affairs Response Team, supporting media efforts as needed.
Team Development: Help enhance team capabilities and foster a culture of best practises across the Corporate Affairs team.
Leadership Support: Act as deputy to the Head of Corporate Affairs for Strategic Infrastructure when required.
What We're Looking For:
A proactive, enthusiastic individual with a solid understanding of public policy and affairs.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with stakeholders at all levels, including MPs and community leaders.
Experience in managing relationships with think tanks, trade associations, and civil society.
A strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate issues and influence decision-making.
A commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement within the team.
