London / Manchester / Oxford (If not based in London, you'll be expected to attend the London office 1-2 times per month)

Monday - Friday (37.5 hours per week - hybrid)

The Role & Team

As we aim to elevate Oodle, we're on the lookout for a Quantitative Analyst for Unsecured Personal Loans, Oodle's newest and fastest-growing financial product, to include in our expanding team. Dive into a world of data, strategic analytics, and profitability-driven initiatives, reporting into the Credit Risk and Profitability function. You'll be influencing our approach to driving profitable originations, and will touch on areas like marketing, pricing, customer retention, payment support, credit risk, open banking, and finance.

What You'll Do:

  • Play a pivotal role in enhancing the profitability of Oodle's Unsecured Personal Loans product by offering insights, optimisations, and cost efficiencies.
  • Optimising the origination funnel, balancing an efficient, self-servable, digital-first journey with risk and performance as we automate and streamline. Develop our understanding of the relationship between top of funnel marketing activity, risk, conversion, and subsequent performance.
  • Forge robust partnerships across Oodle, ensuring key insights, monitoring, and oversight are efficiently communicated to a spectrum of teams and stakeholders - from operations to executives - to guide decision-making.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance Oodle's pricing strategies, making use of both internal and external datasets.
  • Delve into Oodle's portfolio data, ensuring our agreements consistently meet performance standards.
  • Contribution to refining view of new origination unit economics.
  • Drive strategic initiatives in credit risk management, optimizing processes, and offering actionable insights to the broader team.
  • UPL-specific credit strategies considering exposure to risk for new opportunities such as brokering our declines, referrals from partners, returning customer trials, price comparison sites, and more.
  • Exploring use of Open Banking to drive profitable growth through enhanced decision-making, and to protect against fraud as we expand onto the open market.

Who you are:

  • Highly technical analyst with a 2+ years' experience within a lender in credit risk, pricing, profitability or marketing analytics.
  • A STEM or financial background. A good fit may have a BSc, MSc, or PhD in one of the following areas: mathematics, statistics, chemistry, physics, economics, or finance.
  • Analytical thinker with an ability for identifying patterns and drawing meaningful insights from data. Should have the ability to use both quantitative and qualitative data sources.
  • Willing and able to independently and collaboratively solve challenges which are interesting and directly linked to performance of the business.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential as role will entail interaction with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Keen interest in Finance, Economics and FinTech.
  • Experience with Microsoft packages, in particular Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with coding (SQL/Python), data processing, data visualisation, credit risk is advantageous. However, this is not a requirement.
  • Experience with Excel modelling would be considered positive.
