A fantastic opportunity has become available to join the API centre of excellence team as a Lead Software Engineer - this role sits within a fast-paced, exciting team within the bank and working on some fantastic projects!

The ideal candidate should have vast experience in developing and building software solutions end to end through the whole software life cycle, be high-skilled in Cloud technologies, autonomous, flexible, and committed.

• Keeping the solutions delivered running healthy in production, minimizing incidents and maximizing quality of service
• Becoming a role model and mentor to the rest of the technical team

What you'll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

• Demonstrable experience as a Full Stack SW Developer (AWS Cloud Services and Java)
• Understanding of microservice-oriented architecture running on PaaS infrastructure
• Experience of agile software development practices (Unit testing, Test-driven development or CI/CD)
• Experience using GitHub, Jira, Jenkins during the development lifecycle as well as using automated tools to evaluate robustness, quality, and vulnerabilities of the code developed
• Experience working with Ping Federate
• You have previous experience of supporting Production-related incidents until resolution

It would also be nice for you to have:

• Understanding of AWS services and the Well-Architected framework, event-driven architecture
• Adopting Agile engineering processes (Scrum/Kanban, DevOps, CI/CD, BDD/TDD test automation)
• Experience with SQL (Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, Aurora) and NoSQL (AWS DynamoDB, MongoDB)
• Exposure to DevOps ecosystem and automation tools to follow Continuous Integration lifecycle

What else you need to know:

This is a permanent role and is based in Milton Keynes.

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

1. 1st Stage - Technical Interview - this will be a 30min technical interview with one of the team
2. 2nd Stage - A one-hour formal interview where we will ask both technical and competency-based questions. This can be done virtually or face to face depending on your situation
