Risk and controls specialist

We are currently working with a global financial client in the recruitment of a VP level risk and control specialist on a 6-month day-rate contract. You will be focused on strengthening the governance, supervisory, and control framework in the region.
This role reports to the Head of EMEA Risk & Controls and collaborates with the Global team to develop governance, control, and supervision frameworks across equities. The role involves working closely with Business Management teams to support both business-specific and market-wide regulatory and control initiatives.
The responsibilities include:
- Strengthen systems of control and governance
- Drive the evolution of the control framework and devise solutions to mitigate risks
- Embed an effective governance structure for oversight of activities impacting legal entities
- Support EMEA Risk and Control MI, Governance, reporting, and escalations
- Monitor adherence to policy requirements and supervisory controls
- Coordinate issue remediation across EMEA businesses
- Maintain control documentation for internal, external, and regulatory reviews
- Deliver new control initiatives in collaboration with Business Unit Management
- Interact with various control functions to drive control enhancement initiatives and investigate control failures
- Participate in ad-hoc reviews and regulatory examinations
To be considered for this role you will be required to have the following skills/experience:
- At least 5 years' experience operating in a VP level senior risk and control role
- A rich history of developing governance, control, and supervision frameworks
- Relevant financial services or consultancy experience, preferably within market products and businesses
- Strong governance, control, and process knowledge
- Attention to detail, process-oriented, data-driven, and well-organised
The role is initially for a 6-month period. There is a possibility of extension depending on the client's needs. This role will be based in Belfast and will require the resources to attend the Belfast office 3 days p/w. Only candidates that would be able to attend the office 3 days per week will be considered.
