Northumbria Primary Care Ltd (NPC) is a pioneering partnership with local GPs and now manages several GP practices with around 50,000 registered patients in Northumberland and North Tyneside.

Job overview

We are excited to announce that Northumbria Primary Care is expanding our GP workforce. This is possible due to our not-for-profit principles and eagerness to re-invest in service delivery. We will be recruiting a total of 38 sessions across our organisation.

As part of the process, any candidates shortlisted will have one interview and be asked to indicate your preferred site(s) within the NPC group. Successful candidates will be assigned a single base site and will not be required to rotate across NPC sites. All candidates will be considered for all areas. This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing team and contribute to high-quality care within our organisation.

The advert will close Wednesday 16th April at 12pm and we will be interviewing on Wednesday 23rd April, Friday 25th April, and Tuesday 29th April. Due to service needs, we will be unable to change these interview dates.

Main duties of the job

As a GP Practice which is part of Northumbria Primary Care Ltd (NPC), we work with flexibility and independence to run the surgery based on what is best for our patients and staff, and additionally we have the regular and consistent support of the management team to help us to focus on what is clinically important.

As a Salaried GP, the post holder will be a key clinician within the team. A job plan will be agreed with you to provide general medical services and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We take great pride in developing our future workforce in primary care. This includes GP registrars, medical students, nursing students, and the continued development of all staff. The post holder will work as a member of the multidisciplinary Practice team to provide general medical services for the needs of the practice population and to help ensure the Practice provides the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

The post holder will manage a busy caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.

The post holder is expected to contribute to the operational and strategic management of the practices within Northumbria Primary Care, and there are opportunities for personal and professional development across a wide range of areas within primary and secondary care.

Person specification Qualifications
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent (JCPTGP/nMRCGP)
  • Membership of a recognized defence union (MPS/MDU)
  • Currently on a performers list and never been removed from a performers list for a detrimental reason
  • DRCOG
  • DFFP/FFFP
  • DCH
Experience
  • Clinical training and experience as a General Practitioner
  • Evidence of recent self-directed learning or development
