Freelance Network Security Engineer to manage Firewall policies (Juniper & Palo Alto), Ritm requests, and security governance

As a Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for managing Firewall rule change requests (Ritm), ensuring compliance with security policies, and optimizing Firewall rules on Juniper and Palo Alto Firewalls. You will play a key role in enforcing strict network traffic control, following security best practices and governance requirements.

Role

• Analyze and validate Firewall rule modification requests
• Implement changes on Juniper and Palo Alto Firewalls using Panorama
• Assess and test rule modifications before deployment
• Ensure new rules are necessary, secure, and compliant with standards
• Optimize existing rules to reduce redundancy and improve performance
• Use AlgoSec to analyze dependencies and manage rule lifecycle
• Contribute to security audits and continuous policy improvements
• Maintain clear documentation of changes and configurations
• Support and train teams on Firewall management best practices

Profile

• 3+ years of experience in Firewall rule management and administration (Juniper & Palo Alto)
• Strong knowledge of Panorama for centralized policy management
• Familiarity with AlgoSec (optional but a plus)
• Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, etc.) and perimeter security concepts
• Hands-on experience with Firewall change request management (Ritm)
• Knowledge of ITSM processes (ServiceNow or similar)
• Experience with security audits and compliance best practices
