Do you want to help shape the future of the Sussex Eating Disorder Service (SEDS)?
We're looking for like-minded people to join us and help provide top quality care to those who need it.
SEDS is developing a new pathway to support patients with severe eating disorders. The Inpatient Transition Pathway (ITP) aims to transform patient experience by minimising episodes of inpatient care and facilitate moves between community and inpatient services.
You will play a key role in the ITP, ensuring patients are supported throughout the inpatient phase of treatment. You will be involved in preparation for admission, in-reach to inpatient units through visits, attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings and Care plan approach meetings (CPA). Preparation for discharge will start before admission with timely assessment of health, psychological and social needs.
You will carry a case load and start evidence based psychological treatments prior to discharge and continue with this in the community. SEDS provides specialist eating disorder services across a large area, including Coastal West Sussex, North West Sussex, Brighton and East Sussex.
This post will be supervised by the appropriate Professional Lead within SEDS. We are a nurturing team, that prioritises supervision, career development and training.
Main duties of the jobKey responsibilities of the role:
- You will be central to preparing patients for admission to Specialist Eating Disorder Units (SEDUs) either directly or supporting team members.
- You will liaise with SEDUs and the Provider Collaborative to share the co-produced goals for the inpatient phase of treatment.
- You will lead on maintaining clinical oversight of all patients on SEDU's through your in-reach work.
- You will hold a small complex clinical caseload and deliver evidence-based treatments whilst promoting patients' physical health and social integration.
- You will at times work autonomously with the support of your professional lead.
- You will work closely with the wider team and chair meetings.

REQUIREMENTS
Successful applications will be required to have:
- A degree/ diploma in Nursing (Both general and mental health nurses are considered for this role) Or a Degree/ Masters in Occupational Therapy.
- Current registration with the NMC as a registered nurse or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Occupational Therapist.
- Post graduate experience demonstrating ability to work in challenging situations.
- Demonstrable knowledge and empathy of mental health and/or eating disorders.

Person specification Qualifications- Current registration with the NMC as a registered nurse or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Occupational Therapist.
- Post graduate experience demonstrating ability to work in challenging situations.
- Demonstrable knowledge and empathy of mental health and/or eating disorders.
- Extensive post qualifying experience in relevant service area.
- Experience of supervising staff and students.
- Able to manage a caseload of patients with complex mental health needs.
- Comprehensive knowledge of interventions specific to eating disorder services.
- Awareness of trust policies and service specification.
- To understand mental capacity act, consent and deprivation of liberty standards and comply with legislation.
