Senior Applied Research Scientist, Deep Learning for RNA

Working hand-in-hand with laboratory teams at BioNTech, our RNA research group is advancing the state-of-the art in deep learning applied to RNA science. Our expertise is shared across the company to enable BioNTech to maintain their world leading position in the field of RNA therapeutics. As a Senior Research Scientist you will take a lead role in this mission. Our group's diverse, expert team, top-tier compute resources, and dedicated high-throughput capacity in BioNTech's laboratories combine to provide an unparalleled opportunity in the mission to develop life-changing treatments. Role Responsibilities

• Advance the state-of-the-art in RNA science using deep learning.
• Ensure the team maintains leading expertise including knowledge of emerging literature.
• Guide research agendas, planning, and interpretation of results.
• Present findings effectively to external and internal stakeholders.
• Provide an expert reference on deep learning and how it may be applied to biological tasks.
• Undertake other activities in biological machine learning as required.
• Track record of successful self-directed deep learning research, for example in postdoctoral research or as a group leader. 3 or more years of post-PhD experience or equivalent.
• Demonstrated research impact, for example through the publication of high impact scientific papers or successfully commercialised patents.
• Practical experience developing state-of-the-art deep learning models and expert understanding of deep learning theory.
• Ability to independently plan and communicate research programmes.
• Ability to write high quality code in Python.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Previous experience in deep learning applied to RNA science.
• Experience leading teams in a research context.
• Research experience in prediction of polynucleotide or protein structure.
• Experience communicating research with executive or public audiences.
