We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join our team here at the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) Co-ordinating Centre in Southampton. This is a new function within the organisation and we are looking for someone to establish and lead the team, highlight the benefits of its expertise and engage with the wider business to drive process improvements.

The NIHR funds, enables and delivers world-leading health and social care research that improves people's health and wellbeing and promotes economic growth. Our research helps turn discoveries into new or improved treatments, diagnostics, medical technologies and services. It provides those working in the NHS, public health, global health and social care with the evidence they need to better support patients, the public and people who need care.
You will be instrumental in establishing and leading our new Business Analysis team. Using advanced business analysis techniques and a deep understanding of our digital systems, you will capture requirements, assess operational challenges, and recommend solutions aligned with strategic goals. This includes managing senior stakeholders, developing business cases, facilitating system designs, and ensuring user requirements are met. In addition, you will oversee change initiatives, drive process improvements, and validate testing strategies to ensure solutions meet quality standards. As the team lead, you will manage and mentor our Business Analysts and deputize for senior management as needed.
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for an experienced and qualified professional with strong business analysis and project management expertise to lead and deliver impactful solutions. You should have a proven track record of leadership and team management, managing outcomes, gathering and analysing requirements, and driving process improvements that align with strategic goals. Other key skills to be successful include:
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to engage a range of stakeholders, lead and influence change, and present information effectively using appropriate formats.
- Ability to plan, manage, and innovate within projects while aligning activities with broader organizational strategies.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex issues and develop creative, strategic solutions.
- Experience in process documentation and mapping.
- A commitment to enhancing team outputs and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
