The role

We currently have a fantastic opportunity in our Ports & Maritime team for a Senior Coastal Engineer to work as part of a cohesive team to successfully deliver various coastal and maritime engineering services to a wide range of clients, including government, Port authorities and private sectors. This role may be based in multiple locations including Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.

As a Senior Engineer you will provide high quality design, analysis and engineering knowledge and effective project management skills to support the project delivery and ongoing business needs. You will be involved in planning and conducting engineering projects of a complex nature whilst proactively collaborating with appropriate team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables to meet client requirements.

Suitable applicants will demonstrate:

  • A minimum of 6+ years' commercial experience in a similar role
  • Degree qualified in Civil, Structural or Maritime Engineering (or similar)
  • Established knowledge and experience in asset management, maritime structures and port engineering
  • Experience managing project deliverables from start to finish; experience working on Western Australian projects would be highly desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and superior report-writing competencies
  • Able to undertake some travel (domestic or international)

Key responsibilities and tasks for this role include:

  • Scoping and managing the production of metocean studies
  • Coastal protection structures design
  • Coastal climate change adaptation planning
  • Marina and small craft facility design
  • Planning and design of small-scale to large-scale coastal and maritime infrastructure for the ports, resources, water infrastructure, aquaculture and renewable energy sectors
  • Manage the successful delivery of various coastal and maritime engineering projects in accordance with HSE and QA policies and procedures either individually, as part of a project delivery team, or by leading a project delivery team, depending on project complexity.
  • Preparation of proposals, fee estimates and programs for consulting projects
  • Liaising with clients for service delivery, networking, and business development.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and supervision for junior engineers
  • Some intra and interstate travel as required
  • Chartered or actively working towards chartership and applicable Registration
