Job Description

Senior Commercial Analyst is needed for a vital role in Brussels. This is a permanent role and fully based in Brussels Belgium and paying €70,000 to €80,000 Euros per annum with excellent benefits.

The Senior Commercial analyst is pivotal providing commercial and financial guidance to the our clients, Europe Division in its pursuit of new business and retention opportunities. Providing high quality financial modelling, commercial analysis to bids, including collation and challenge of technical and cost inputs and analysis of financial information. The role ensures we help guide our bid and pricing strategy and provide accurate management information and insight to Our clients, Europe Division governance life cycle teams.

The role holder will have demonstrable strong financial acumen, experience working in a commercial finance role, preferably from a bidding environment and will be a key member of our European Commercial Finance team.

Key Responsibilities.

Customer - an in depth understanding of the customers' requirements

  • Analyse customer requirements (draft contracts, specs etc), proposing clarification questions where necessary, and identify any possible gaps or misalignments within the costed solution as captured by the financial model.
  • Accurately complete (and reconcile to our clients internal financial model) customer financial returns, assisting and responding as required to customer clarification questions with regard the same.
  • Help to produce and understand customer viewpoint in terms of financial business case, affordability, and value for money challenges.
  • Directly engage in customer dialogue, for example financial return walkthroughs, to help our clients customer to fully understand the our solution and financial components.

Growth Process - lead the financial modelling for assigned bids

  • Maintain expertise in financial reporting requirements, relevant legislation, and public procurement policy. Consider accounting treatments under IFRS, liaising with Group Finance, as appropriate.
  • Perform financial modelling in accordance with applicable GSOPs, and any other relevant company policy and processes.
  • Provide financial information, including risk and opportunity/sensitivity analysis, to our clients, governance forums that is complete and accurate, and present in a meaningful way with visualisation aids where relevant.
  • Perform commercial analysis to inform the business of the potential outcomes and impact of various bid, cost and/or pricing strategies, and hence facilitate effective business decision making.
  • Perform financial and commercial analysis for specific deal requirements, which may include, for example: (i) Monte Carlo analysis of possible performance management regime service credit/incentive outcomes; (ii) win/loss analysis; and/or (iii) benchmark review.
  • Assist in the delivery of a cost-effective model audit and peer review capability that will drive compliance and integrity of financial modelling across the Growth process.

People and Process - support the development of people and process across UK & Europe

  • Support the education and training of other members of the European and UK Commercial team and the wider company community.
  • Assist Senior Commercial Managers in the development and implementation of commercial policy, processes and systems as required.
  • Assist in developing, or directly provide, data manipulation and modelling capability beyond the modelling of bid financial data, to support emerging commercial propositions across the business and bespoke business unit requirements.

Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualifications

  • Relevant financial degree or a professional financial qualification (or in exceptional circumstances, an alternative qualification with demonstrable equivalent financial acumen).
  • Working knowledge of financial reporting.
  • Excellent academic record and expert financial modelling and Microsoft Excel capabilities.
  • Demonstrable track record of successful involvement in bidding and winning, in competitive environments, profitable and sustainable business. Specific public sector and/or outsourcing experience desirable.
  • Knowledge/understanding of people related cost modelling across Europe (salaries, leave, pension, indexation, European social security costs etc).
  • Knowledge of, and track record of successfully operating, company governance processes applied to complex sales opportunities.
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail with a steadiness under pressure.
  • An energetic self-starter who can demonstrate they can work without supervision while managing a demanding and fluctuating workload.
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to assimilate information quickly and communicate key messages simply and effectively to stakeholders.
