Job overviewExciting opportunities have arisen within the Children's Learning Disability Service. The Learning Disability Service strives to provide forward-thinking high-quality services, working in partnership with other agencies. In addition to working with young people with learning disabilities and their families, we have a strong commitment to health promotion through service development and training initiatives. We are committed to helping our staff develop, and you will be part of an enthusiastic and experienced team.
The post holder will, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, work towards addressing the psychological, emotional, and behavioural needs of children and young people with a learning disability. They will be responsible for their caseload and deliver a range of evidence-based interventions. The post holder will also support the Autism pathway.
Adaptability, good communication skills, and self-motivation are essential to the role. You will also be able to demonstrate that your practice is evidence-based and innovative.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, work towards addressing the health, psychological, emotional, and behavioural needs of children and young people with a learning disability. They will be responsible for their caseload and supervise that of other practitioners within the service. The post holder will also take a senior role in undertaking and supporting assessments for the school-aged Autism Spectrum Disorder Pathway.
The post is based within Lancashire, and the main duties will be within the Lancaster and Morecambe team.

Person specification Education/Qualifications- Part 5 or 14 of NMC register
- 2- 3 years' experience as registered nurse or equivalent
- Registered Learning disability nurse - RLDN
- Preparation of Mentor training/NST 307 / ENB 998
- Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and how to undertake assessment and support children and young people with ASD
- Knowledge of relevant contemporary health policy
- Knowledge and skills in the assessment/management of risk.
- Experience of working with children and young people who have learning disabilities and/or autism
- Experience of working in a community setting
- Ability to support people who have a learning disability/complex needs on an individual and group basis
- Communication - Non-verbal, verbal, and written
- Organisational skills - ability to manage own time and workload
