Job Description
- £23.69 per hour
- 36 hours pw
- Hybrid - 3 days in the office
Main Duties:
- To work with colleagues across the council, to ensure the Council's website provides clear, accurate and engaging content (incl. written, video, audio and social media).
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the needs and expectations of stakeholders, including residents, local businesses, care professionals and community partners in terms of their digital experience.
- Design and create wireframes and prototypes for online transactional forms and processes, producing clear specifications for developers, demonstrating a thorough understanding of UX/UI interactions, design principles and GDS standards.
- Optimise digital content for search engines and actively use statistical analytics to inform and support decisions.
- Promote web accessibility throughout the council and ensure that all interface designs that are produced comply with Web Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2 - Level AA).
- Use web analytic tools such as Google Analytics, heatmaps, search logs and desk research to identify user problems, learning and success, and share with colleagues and senior managers to inform future development approaches.
- Develop and deliver training and training materials in relation to web content creation and design to ensure colleagues are proficient CMS users and understand relevant legislation and best practices relating to content design.
- Assist with the delivery of other communication, campaign and internal engagement activities from time to time.
- Work in an agile and iterative manner to manage the flow of web and digital requests to ensure resources are prioritised across the team, focusing on the most needed customer improvements.
- Provide out of hours monitoring of the council's website and ensure the appropriate processes are in place to alert relevant stakeholders to any emergencies or changes in service across the website.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of user experience, accessibility, digital content writing and customer engagement techniques and best practices to support colleagues and provide expert advice to the Council.
- Be aware of web-related development across the council and contribute to projects, where appropriate, to share user experience expertise and inform the user journey.
- Ensure that the council's overall vision, values and ethos are central to the requirements of the service.
