Job Summary:

Key Results Areas/Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. To independently assess and justify examinations by the use of a medical referral.
2. At all times adhere to safety around the powerful MRI environment.
3. To perform imaging examinations and care for patients during these examinations, respecting the rights of privacy and confidentiality, and to evaluate the clinical quality of images produced.
4. To perform specialist/non-specialist MRI examinations including MRI Cardiacs (including Stress Cardiacs), MRI Musculoskeletal (MSK), MRI gynaecological, MRI gastrointestinal, MRI Neurological, MRI urological, MRI breast, MRI Ears/Nose/Throat (ENT) and MRI chest Imaging. Training will be provided if required.
5. To administer drugs and intravenous contrast agents in line with Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and local protocols.
6. You may be required to help out in both X-ray and standing CT examinations (training if needed).
7. Liaise closely with Consultant Radiologists and colleagues within clinical multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that patients receive optimum care.
8. To evaluate the clinical quality of images produced and to make appropriate protocol adjustments/recommendations to maximise the clinical accuracy for the imaging reports.
9. To accurately record data using CompuCare system.
10. To be proficient with the PACS system used.
11. To ensure that high professional standards are maintained throughout the department, in terms of dress, technical quality and patient care.

18. To discuss issues with Referring Clinicians and other hospital agencies, for example, discussing or clarifying requests for imaging examinations.
19. To partake in quality assurance testing across Imaging equipment.
20. Be responsible for the safe and competent use of expensive and complex equipment.
21. Take responsibility for compliance with 'Local Rules' of the department.
22. Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy environment for all users including maintaining high standard of cleanliness and adhere to infection control policies.
23. Communicate abnormal findings in accordance with Centre's SOPs.
24. To report all equipment faults to the equipment manufacturer or maintenance contract provider and the MRI Superintendent, without delay.
25. To ensure that any operational difficulties are reported to the MRI Superintendent immediately.
26. To work under the guidance of MRI Superintendent, Deputy superintendent.
27. To act as clinical mentor for diagnostic imaging staff as appropriate.
28. To work effectively under pressure.

10. Attend meetings within and external to Imaging and Diagnostics as delegated by Senior Leadership group.
11. Communicate at all levels by utilising a wide range of communication techniques (verbal, non-verbal, written, electronic etc.).
12. Manage, defuse, and respond appropriately with verbal complaints and situations of conflict and aggression through knowledge, training, experience, and escalation.
13. Adhere to all General data protection regulations GDPR.
14. To deal with initial complaints from patients, carers or other professionals and refer where necessary to the appropriate MRI Superintendent.
15. To observe the Centre's policy for reporting incidents in a timely manner.
16. To produce and implement action plans because of incidents.
