About The Firm:

My client is a well-established and highly respected law firm. Operating across five offices in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, the firm has a reputation for delivering excellence across all legal services. Due to the acquisition of a major new contract, my client is expanding its Litigation team and is seeking a Senior Operational Compliance Manager to take a pivotal leadership role in managing compliance and regulatory adherence.


Position Overview:

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a thriving and innovative team and play a key role in the delivery of a major new contract with a leading retail bank. The Senior Operational Compliance Manager will oversee the Customer Solutions Team, ensuring all activities are carried out in adherence to FCA regulations, internal compliance policies, and client SLAs. The successful candidate will have a strong regulatory background, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the mortgage market and compliance frameworks.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and supervise the Customer Solutions Team, providing daily oversight and leadership.
  2. Ensure adherence to FCA regulations, particularly MCOB, SYSC, Principles for Businesses (including Consumer Duty) and other regulatory guidance relevant to mortgage servicing activities.
  3. Lead ongoing reviews of firm-wide procedures, policies, and controls in accordance with the Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring Plan.
  4. Ensure compliance with client SLAs and Lightfoots' Core Values.
  5. Oversee staff competence and regulatory awareness, providing training, performance reviews, and supervision.
  6. Manage regulatory escalations, complaints, and exceptions, ensuring compliance with FCA guidance and client mandates.
  7. Provide strategic advice and guidance on compliance matters to senior management and staff.
  8. Liaise directly with clients, external stakeholders, and third parties, ensuring the firm's reputation for excellence is upheld.
  9. Work closely with the IT development team to implement and update system processes and controls in alignment with regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

Essential:

  1. Significant senior management experience in an FCA-regulated bank or non-bank mortgage lender.
  2. Minimum CeMAP Level 2 qualification (essential).
  3. Extensive knowledge of FCA regulations, including MCOB, SYSC, and Consumer Duty.
  4. Strong understanding of the mortgage market sector and industry best practices.
  5. Exceptional leadership, strategic, and organisational skills.
  6. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage at all levels.
  7. High levels of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
