Job Description

Location:Exeter (Hybrid Working Available)

The Role

A leading design and build provider in the water sector is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join its engineering team. Reporting to the Regional Discipline Lead - Process, you will deliver high-quality engineering design services for turnkey contracts. Your work will ensure that designs are cost-effective, safe, and sustainable, from initial concept through to detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop design layouts and prepare detailed design documents.
  • Produce process flow diagrams, mass balances, and P&IDs.
  • Ensure designs meet technical, safety, and cost standards.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Update and maintain departmental design procedures.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers.
  • Maintain project records and documentation.
  • Ensure designs consider environmental and health & safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Degree (or HND) in Chemical, Process, or related Engineering.
  • Chartered or working towards accreditation (e.g., ICE, IMechE).
  • Experience in designing water and sewage treatment projects.
  • Proficiency in design software and strong computer literacy.
  • Ability to produce economic plant layouts and technical proposals.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel.
