Job Description

We are working with a local authority who are looking for a Senior Procurement Officer with a focus on the IT category. You will be working as part of the Council's Strategic Procurement Service where you will manage the delivery of high value and complex tenders, or work with a Business Partner to undertake specific IT category projects.

Location: Southwest based Authority

Set-up: Hybrid - ideally 1-2 days/week onsite

Rate: £400 - £467.59 per day via umbrella, inside IR35

Duration: Initial 3-month contract

Hours: Full-time position

The work will include:

  • Managing the delivery of high value and complex tenders as part of the authorities Strategic Procurement Service, or working with a Business Partner on specific category projects.
  • Supporting the commercial needs of the Council flexibly.
  • Developing critical relationships at all levels, particularly with Directors, lead commissioners, outcome managers, senior managers, and others who influence commercial outcomes.

Qualifications and Education:

  • Professional CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) qualification or equivalent and evidence of experience or necessary skills through training.
  • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of strategic procurement principles.
  • Experience in developing/reviewing relevant procurement/contract terms.
  • Local Government experience required for initial shortlisting, thereafter at the client's discretion.
  • Proven track record of providing strategic procurement advice and support to stakeholders at all levels across an organisation.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the commercial environment including the identification of commercial risk and providing high level commercial advice to stakeholders at all levels.
