About Allica Bank
Allica is the UK's fastest growing company - and the fastest-growing financial technology (Fintech) firm ever. Our purpose is to help established SMEs, one of the last major underserved opportunities in Fintech.
Established SMEs are the backbone of local communities - representing over a third of our economy - yet have been largely neglected both by traditional high street banks and modern fintech providers.
Role Description
As a key member of the Spend Management squad, you'll help shape a modern business bank account that goes beyond transfers, statements, and card payments. We're building tools that give businesses control over their spending - setting limits, tracking in real time, categorising expenses, and cutting out manual admin. Your work will help UK eSMEs focus more on growing their business.
You'll lead the design process from discovery to delivery, balancing customer needs with business goals to drive impact. By deeply understanding our users, you'll shape the UX strategy and create meaningful, value-driven experiences.
We're creating a culture of ownership and openness-we encourage people across the business to share knowledge and experiences to learn from one another and grow. You are an advocate of design and systems thinking; your expertise positions you perfectly as a mentor to other designers and to help team members across the business solve problems.
People of different ages, genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply-you'll be able to be yourself and feel valued no matter who you are.
What will you be doing?
- Working with the Head of Design and your product owner to deliver best in class design solutions. You'll help drive the product vision and lead UX strategy for your product area. You'll help make sure we're designing and shipping the right things.
- Working through design problems from start to finish-translating customer insights into ideas, crafting end-to-end user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI. You'll design simple, elegant experiences that take care of every detail.
- Taking ownership of your work by measuring and sharing its impact.
- Building a deep understanding of our users by analysing behaviour data, testing solutions and supporting user research. By learning from existing insights and observing how customers interact with our products, you'll inform design decisions and refine user experiences. As a strong and vocal user advocate, you'll ensure that customer needs remain at the heart of everything we do.
- Working closely with product owners, product analysts and engineers. You'll learn, scope and ship together and develop a shared understanding of the product strategy.
- Actively contributing to the evolution of the design language system. You'll apply systems thinking when solving design problems and consider the impact of design decisions on the broader user experience and engineering.
- Helping elevate the status of design within the business-We have big plans for the design team, and you'll have a key role in helping with design strategy and improving our community of practice.
About You
- You make decisions based on evidence. You leverage data and research to inform your design choices, run experiments when needed, and embrace healthy debate as part of the decision-making process.
- You take ownership. You act with autonomy, ensuring UX standards are upheld within your squad whilst helping the company achieve its broader goals. You focus on action over process and cut unnecessary meetings to keep things moving.
- You move fast and iterate. You take a think, make, check approach, working in short cycles to maintain momentum. You prioritize getting features into the hands of customers, using real-world feedback to refine and improve.
- You're open and honest. You share knowledge, give and receive candid feedback, and challenge the status quo when needed. You see failures as learning opportunities and are humble enough to admit when you don't have all the answers.
- You have 4+ years of experience designing world-class digital products, in-house.
- You have a strong portfolio showcasing impactful product design work across iOS, Android, and web platforms.
- You have a deep understanding of UX and human behaviour, ensuring designs are intuitive, accessible, and user centric.
- You have a keen eye for visual design, with strong skills in typography, grids, and UI design.
- You're technically aware-you understand the implications of your design decisions and collaborate effectively with engineers.
- You articulate design decisions clearly and persuasively to stakeholders.
