- Must be a Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive qualified in England and, in the case of solicitors, hold (or be able to obtain) a current practising certificate
- In depth knowledge of English Law
- In depth knowledge of Property and Conveyancing Law
- In depth knowledge of Land Law
- A minimum of 6+ years' PQE - essential
- Significant experience of effecting major property work of all types with limited supervision
- Experience of effectively managing resources to achieve value for money and provide a high-quality service
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and evaluate business risk, and to present legal risks in the context of the client's needs.
- Ability to manage a mixed caseload of commercial and residential property matters that would be considered to be highly complex and/or organisationally high profile with minimum of supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
As a Senior Property Solicitor, you will provide high-quality legal advice to the Council, its Executive, Committees, Sub-Committees, and departments. You will manage a personal caseload focused on property matters, assisting in delivering comprehensive legal services across the organization.
Key Duties:- Provide expert legal advice on complex property matters to senior Council officers and members, offering innovative, legally-compliant solutions.
- Lead and manage land-related transactions, ensuring efficiency, timely completion, and alignment with budgetary targets and Council policies.
- Independently draft legal documents and handle a range of complex legal tasks to support the Council's property-related decisions and objectives.
- Prepare detailed reports and offer legal and procedural guidance to the Executive, Committees, and other stakeholders to ensure decisions are legally robust.
- Assess the need for specialist legal advice or Counsel, instructing as necessary and ensuring value for money while overseeing case progress.
