An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to cover maternity leave at Amman Valley Community Hospital, Glanaman, Ammanford. The position will be for 12 months duration either as a fixed term contract or a potential secondment within the health board.

Cysgod y Cwm ward comprises of 28 beds primarily specialising in older adult rehabilitation and palliative care, with a strong focus on MDT and Intermediate Care models of practice. Medical cover is provided through a mixture of Consultant, GP and Intermediate Care Physicians.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a credible, pro-active, team focused nursing leader with a proven track record of leading nurses through periods of change. The post holder will need to have strong visible leadership with effective interpersonal, communication and decision making skills. It is essential that applicants have the ability to work as part of a Multidisciplinary team; a thorough knowledge of the admission/discharge process is also desirable.

You will need to be a Registered Nurse with substantial post registration experience at Band 6 Level, (with evidence of post registered professional development) in order to offer supportive and effective leadership to junior staff.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Registered Nurse (Part 1)
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Pertinent postgraduate diploma (or equivalent development / experience AND a willingness to undertake appropriate post graduate level study when in post)
  • Teaching/Coaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Knowledge of legislation pertinent to role
  • Recognised management qualification
  • Recognised leadership qualification
  • Experience of leading a team
Experience
  • Proven and relevant experience at Band 6
  • Appropriate experience within specialty and able to demonstrate sound knowledge of relevant specialty
  • Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC Code (2018)
  • Proven post registration experience and evidence of coordinating and managing a team of staff
  • Able to demonstrate an awareness of professional issues and developments
  • Experience of leadership skills
