Job Description

The Sr. Staff Engineer - EMC plays a pivotal role in leading the design, validation, and integration of EMC solutions throughout the product lifecycle-ranging from individual components to full vehicle systems. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with stringent EMC standards at all stages, providing expertise to overcome complex technical challenges and facilitating the seamless integration of EMC considerations in vehicle development. The position requires a deep technical proficiency, leadership in EMC design strategy, and a thorough understanding of both regulatory compliance and performance optimization in automotive systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead EMC Design and Validation: Oversee EMC performance from the component level, through system integration, to full vehicle validation, ensuring robust EMC compliance at each stage of the product lifecycle.
  2. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to influence EMC-compliant design and ensure that EMC performance requirements are met at all development stages (component, integration, vehicle).
  3. Develop and Approve EMC Specifications: Ensure the incorporation of EMC performance requirements into product specifications, driving compliance and validation at all levels-component, system integration, and full vehicle validation.
  4. Design, Plan, and Execute EMC Testing: Plan and conduct EMC validation tests across all levels, from component to system integration and full vehicle validation, adhering to industry standards and customer requirements.
  5. Data Analysis and Risk Mitigation: Provide expert analysis of EMC test results, identifying risks early in the design phase and recommending design or process improvements to meet EMC standards.
  6. Simulation and Analysis Leadership: Perform and oversee EMC simulations, utilizing RF modeling and simulation tools to predict and mitigate EMC issues during the design phase before physical testing.
  7. Procedure Development: Lead the creation and ongoing maintenance of EMC test procedures, collaborating with internal teams and external testing labs to ensure accuracy and consistency in testing processes.
  8. Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions: Lead investigations into nonconformance issues, from component to full vehicle level, and implement corrective actions to ensure EMC standards are consistently met.
  9. Lifecycle Management of EMC Testing: Manage EMC testing across the product development cycle, ensuring all components and systems are validated for EMC compliance before moving to production.
  10. Monitor EMC Design Changes: Ensure that modifications to designs are evaluated and validated through thorough EMC testing and analysis, mitigating potential performance issues.
  11. Training and Knowledge Sharing: Develop and deliver training sessions to internal teams on best practices and emerging trends in EMC design and testing, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Required Qualifications
  1. Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related technical field, with specialized experience or training in EMC design and validation.
  2. Experience: Over 10 years of extensive hands-on experience in EMC design and validation within the automotive industry or similar high-tech systems. Demonstrated expertise in component-level EMC design, system integration, and full vehicle EMC validation, with a proven track record of managing complex EMC challenges throughout the entire product lifecycle.
  3. EMC Standards Expertise: In-depth knowledge of EMC testing standards (e.g., ISO, IEC), with demonstrated ability to apply these standards to ensure product compliance at all development stages.
  4. Simulation Proficiency: Advanced experience with EMC simulation tools (e.g., RF modeling, system simulations) to predict and mitigate EMC issues during design and integration.
  5. Vehicle-Level EMC Experience: Familiarity with CAN diagnostic tools and other vehicle-level simulation equipment, integrating EMC considerations into the overall vehicle system design.
  6. EMC Mitigation Knowledge: Strong understanding of EMC mitigation techniques and design strategies to minimize interference and optimize system performance in complex environments.
  7. Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel for external EMC lab testing, client site visits, and coordination with testing teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Hands-on experience with advanced diagnostic and simulation tools like CANoe, HFSS, CST Studio, or similar tools used in EMC design and validation.
  2. Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless integration of EMC performance in the design and validation phases.
  3. Exceptional skills in problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical thinking, particularly in the context of EMC at various stages of product development.
Other Requirements
  1. Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams) proficiency for document management and communication.
  2. Experience with PLM systems, managing EMC data and design changes throughout the product lifecycle.
Ideal Candidate Profile

This role is ideally suited for an experienced EMC Engineer with deep expertise in EMC design and validation, particularly at the component, integration, and full vehicle levels. The ideal candidate will be adept at overcoming complex EMC challenges, from early-stage design to final vehicle validation. They will possess a proactive approach to addressing design risks and optimizing EMC performance, leveraging advanced tools and methodologies to ensure compliance and technical excellence at all stages of the product lifecycle.

At Stellantis, we assess candidates based on qualifications, merit and business needs. We welcome applications from people of all gender identities, age, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation and disability.
