An exciting opportunity has arisen on C4 stroke. We are soon to become one of the regional thrombectomy hyper acute stroke units in South Wales. We currently have multiple vacancies for Band 6 Senior nurses. The stroke unit boasts a friendly and welcoming team with fantastic opportunities to progress your career.
The Stroke Unit at the University Hospital of Wales provides emergency stroke services to a diverse local community and expert clinical services for both regional and local stroke patients. The service is continually expanding and developing offering new and exciting career options.
The 18 bedded Acute Stroke Unit cares for patients requiring close monitoring and observation, encompassing acute care skills, following thrombolysis and thrombectomy, intercranial haemorrhages.
This is a strong clinical specialty, combined with a nursing and clinical team committed to high clinical standards and a supportive environment which makes us a compelling career option for ambitious nurses. We work closely with all members of our united multi-disciplinary team to ensure seamless care that's tailored to the individual.
The team also has a strong multidisciplinary focus, and the successful candidates will need to be able to work inter-professionally and link closely with the team to achieve the best possible outcomes for the patient group. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop significant expertise within the stroke pathway.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be expected to ensure excellent standards of care are maintained and provide excellent leadership to the nursing team. You will be part of a talented multi-disciplinary team providing and sharing clinical expertise, and benefiting from excellent professional development opportunities.
You will require excellent communication and clinical skills, significant evidence of clinical professional development and show passion and enthusiasm for working in an Acute Stroke Ward.
