The Role:

We are looking for a Sustainability Specialist to support our efforts in strengthening our second line risk oversight activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in working on climate change and environmental sustainability matters in a corporate environment. This is a technical role requiring an engineering or a strong quantitative background. Experience in the Financial Industry is a plus but not necessary. Any successful candidate from other industries will therefore be given the unique opportunity to apply his/her skills and experience to risk in asset management.

An important part of the role is to interact closely with teams across the Firm including Investments, Stewardship & Sustainability, Product, Sales and Distribution, and other second line teams to collectively help achieve the best possible outcomes for clients. The Senior Sustainability Risk Analyst will have a dual reporting line to the Head of Investment Risk - Public Markets, and to the Head of Risk Europe leading the sustainability efforts for the Asset Management Risk function. Both Head of Investment Risk - Public Markets and Head of Risk Europe report into the Asset Management Chief Risk Officer.

The role is ideally based in London, but consideration will be given to candidates in other European jurisdictions.

Responsibilities:

  • Strengthening the integration of sustainability into investment risk processes and activities.
  • Supporting the enhancement of sustainability risk oversight approach and practices across all asset classes - public and private market strategies.
  • Providing oversight of sustainability judgements made by Investments.
  • Designing and building specific sustainability analyses and stress tests on portfolios across public and private market investment strategies.
  • Presenting specific sustainability risk assessments to internal committees and other key stakeholders.
  • Training and upskilling existing Investment Risk team's sustainability expertise.
  • Participating in cross-functional initiatives to foster firm-wide sustainability practices.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years' experience as a subject-matter expert in sustainability.
  • Strong quantitative skills.
  • Experience in coding is a plus (such as Python).
  • Strong communication skills. Comfortable in communicating ideas and analysis at different levels.
