How will you make an impact in this role?
The Senior Technical Program Manager role will leverage technical knowledge to drive delivery of multi-disciplinary programs across technical, regulatory, and business requirements-from beginning to end. The role will translate business objectives into execution strategy. Also anticipate, track, and resolve risks, dependencies, and impediments to program and project delivery.
This role will be a member of the product delivery team supporting Engineering Excellence, DX Learning, and Building Software the Amex Way and report to the Director, Digital Product Management within the Developer Enablement team within Developer Experience.
Key Responsibilities: Organizational Change:- Leverage knowledge and change management tools to implement change in individuals and the workplace. Adjust own work effort, style, and content to support desired change. Recognizes when change is required and proposes necessary steps in processes and practices.
- Partner with Engineering Directors and Change Champions to drive engineering excellence (ex: new practices, tooling, etc.)
- Partnering with engineering teams providing the business case to adopt new practices and use new tooling within their application development ecosystem.
- Facilitation: In-person sessions with engineers "tell, show, do" to drive increased adoption and utilization of new practices, tooling, etc.
- Uses technical expertise to identify and enable feasible balance between theories, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies that may seem counter to one another. Ensures learning scenarios resemble current Tech ecosystem for new joiners and current Tech workforce.
- Adaptive Communication: Able to adjust the message, style, and tone of a communication to accommodate a variety of audiences.
- Organizational Change: Drives needed culture shift to enable successful adoption of change. Leads, champions, and supports initiatives to enable and/or implement sustainable change and drive key business results.
- Technical Acumen: Picks up on technical things quickly; can learn new skills and knowledge and apply this knowledge to demonstrate these new skills.
- Agile Practices: Practice and demonstrate principles for the best iterative development methods for self-organizing teams.
- SDLC Methodologies and Practices: Knowledge of formal methodologies for the traditional, structured approach to developing, enhancing and supporting applications.
- Takes full responsibility for the definition, approach, facilitation and satisfactory completion of medium scale projects (typically with direct business impact and firm deadlines).
- Knowledge of methodologies and practices for defining requirements for improving processes and systems.
- Awareness of the skills needed to design, create, test and document programs.
- Interprets data to identify relationships, issues, assumptions, and emerging trends in order to make recommendations for change or improvement.
- Develops an understanding of the role of testing within system development.
- Understands the core systems, components and tools that comprise an enterprise IT environment.
- Obtains buy-in for a change in working conditions by using open and honest communication.
