About The Role
IDHL require an energetic and enthusiastic Senior UX Designer with the ambition and appetite to grow and develop within a fast-paced growing company. This is a key role within a close-knit UX & design team, there is huge potential to further develop skills, expertise and career for the right candidate.
You will be part of a team that focuses on UX research to determine insights, provide creative solutions through visual design and validate decisions via user testing for our clients. You will be expected to apply this methodology across e-commerce and non-transactional website types.
As a senior member of the team, you will have plenty of client engagement, taking a leading role on any UX Research led projects helping drive an appreciation for data driven design both internally and with our clients. You will also support and mentor other members of the team to aid them in their work and their own personal and professional development.
You will need a keen eye for detail and the ability to make UX and design recommendations for clients, leading to greater user satisfaction and improved website performance. Likewise, being comfortable leading workshops with clients to extract information and build empathy with users is a must.
A clear understanding of user interface design and usability principles as well as the ability to visualise complex interactions and functionality through interactive prototypes in different viewports.
Main Accountabilities
Visual Design:
- Able to extract details and understand a client's brief, making suggestions where needed, to define a project's requirements
- Accurately estimate on the time required to produce the briefed work
- Comfortable in leading a project from start to finish
- Use of Figma and Adobe creative suite to create design visuals
- Create design visuals in line with responsive web design principles and set up files in the component driven manor of atomic design principles, clearly named and grouped
- Use prototyping features in Figma to demonstrate interaction and component states to clients
- Design with empathy for the users through user-centred design principles when making design decisions
- Have awareness of accessibility and site performance considerations when creating making design decisions
- Present ideas and designs effectively internally and externally to clients
- Give and receive feedback on your designs from internal team members and external stakeholders
- Manage design tasks efficiently in JIRA both for discrete pieces of work and for wider project work
Strategic Design:
- Prepare, lead and document UX focused workshops
- Translate research findings and outputs into tangible functional design requirements and solutions
- Able to define website information architecture from the site map, hierarchy of content on the page and components required
- Can map user journeys and flows to convey complex processes
Research Design:
- Utilise our UX methodology and provide research insight across relevant projects
- Propose and deliver on tailored UX research methods would be best for the situation, quantitative or qualitative for new business and existing client work
- Define and conduct different types of user research (including interviews, surveys, tree testing, moderating focus groups, usability testing, card sorting)
- Use of Google Analytics Data to influence and track design/research
- Able to group and develop behavioural personas to help build empathy across the project team and direct the visual design solution
- Translate findings from research activities into tangible insights for internal and external use and document them in easy-to-understand output reports
- Present research findings to internal and external teams with confidence
- Make design decisions and suggestions following research activities to inform next steps
General duties:
- Coordinating with other departments on projects such as developers, project managers and account managers
- Lead large and complex projects from start to finish
- Continuously look to improve our current service offering and develop new services
- Provide feedback, support and mentor lower-level members of the team
- Assist the sales teams to scope, spec and sell our services to prospective clients
- Prepared to attend pitches
- Champion the UX approach in other departments of the company and group
Core Knowledge & Skills
Essential
- Considerable experience working within the digital industry, preferably from an agency background
- Relevant degree or industry recognised qualifications in design
- Proficient in the use tools such as Figma, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Miro, Powerpoint and Word
- Experience of researching, writing, validating, and sharing user needs
- Experience mentoring junior team members
- Proven ability to work at pace and under pressure whilst delivering high quality outputs
- Excellent communication skills
- Presentation of your ideas and design vision articulately and effectively
- Adaptability with a solutions mindset - how can we solve the problem at hand, even if it's not mine
- A personal growth mindset - self leadership, keen to learn and develop yourself. Be an autodidact
- A team player working alongside like-minded designers and developers
Desirable
- Involvement with the design and technology community as an active participant and/or contributor
- Understanding of front-end development code, techniques and processes
- Animation or video editing skills
