Full time
Position: Sister/Charge Nurse - Acute Medical Ward
Location: London, The Wellington Hospital
Hours: Full Time (37.5hrs) per week
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Competitive and Excellent Benefits
Due to recent expansion, we are seeking highly motivated Sister/Charge Nurse to join our acute nursing team on our newly opened 14-bed dedicated Acute Medical Ward at The Wellington Hospital-the UK's largest private hospital, rated "Good" by the CQC. This ward supports our on-site Acute Admissions Unit, providing exceptional care to medical patients in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
About the Role
As a Sister/Charge Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering outstanding patient care, maintaining quality standards, and assisting the Ward Manager with governance strategy. You will be responsible for fostering consultant engagement, ensuring a welcoming and collaborative environment for both consultants and their patients.
In the absence of the Ward Manager, you will take the lead in overseeing ward operations, ensuring smooth and effective patient care. Additionally, you will mentor and support junior nurses, overseeing a small portfolio of staff, conducting 1:1 meetings, mid-year, and end-of-year performance reviews. Working closely with the Matron and Ward Manager, you will contribute to the development of a high-quality medical service, ensuring the provision of specialised, patient-centred care.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in complex wound management and tissue viability, work alongside some of London's top consultant physicians, and gain experience in complex discharge planning. You will also play a key role in geriatric care, delivering holistic, patient-focused support tailored to the needs of older adults.
Our ward specialises in caring for geriatric patients, allowing our nurses to build strong relationships with their patients and provide ongoing support to both them and their families as they transition back to their home environments.

At HCA UK, we are committed to investing in your professional growth. You will have access to specialist training, including Harvard Spark online self-paced learning and our fully equipped Learning Academy, ensuring continuous learning and career progression.
