To anticipate the care needs of patients and actively manage the patient's journey through the unit, including advanced life support and assessment.
To support, and work with the Ward Manager to provide effective unit management. Specifically this will include: staff management, stocks and patients care delivery.
To pro-actively participate in the planning, assessing, implementation and evaluation of patient care as part of the multi-disciplinary team from admission to discharge.
To deliver care in accordance with the NMC Code of Practice/Scope of Professional Practice and the Trust's and AEC policies and protocols.
To act as an advocate for the patient and family at all times.
To ensure the safety of patients in accordance with local and national safeguarding procedures.
To participate in auditing effectiveness and incorporate findings into practice.
Be aware of own limitations and able to escalate issues appropriately.
Main duties of the jobClinical Practice
To be competent in nursing skills for in acute medicine, including advanced life support and other forms of advanced care.
Develop further an area of clinical expertise like critical care.
Always endeavour to provide the highest standard of care possible.
Ensure clinical practice is evidence based and up to date.
Ensure the patient and their families receive a high standard of care in accordance with the Trust's patient experience strategy.
Lead on implementation and change of practice where necessary.
To give advice and clinical support to other areas within unit and medical day unit as required.
Be involved in effective multi-disciplinary team working.
Ensure patient's privacy and dignity, and individual needs are met.
Be an expert in the designated basic clinical skills set and teach/inform/coach others as appropriate encouraging a positive learning environment.
Be proactively involved in the development of competency standards, protocols, pgd's, guidelines and unified records.
Actively seek out opportunities to improve skills and increase knowledge.
Keep up to date with clinical developments within acute medicine.
Be able to work autonomously.

Person Specification- Experience in managing OPAT patients.
- Previous leadership program/training.
- Advanced nursing skills - adult physical assessment.
