This is an exciting time to join The Harley Street Campus (The Harley Street Clinic/Leaders in Oncology Care) in the capacity Site Lead Physicist for Molecular Imaging and Therapies to provide specialist scientific and technical expertise to support the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of diagnostic, therapeutic and research procedures in accordance with IR(ME)R.

As the Medical Physics Expert Molecular Imaging and therapies, you post holder will be responsible for:

  • Optimising medical exposures and establishing Diagnostic Reference Levels (DRLs).
  • Defining and overseeing the performance of equipment quality assurance (QA).
  • Conducting commissioning and acceptance testing of imaging systems, new technologies and techniques.
  • Be responsible for the definitive calibration of the equipment.
  • Advising on equipment, room and installation design.
  • Monitoring and ensuring the ongoing surveillance of equipment.
  • Analysing and investigating accidental or unintended radiation exposures.
  • Selecting appropriate equipment for radiation protection measurements.
  • Providing training, guidance and scientific support to practitioners and other staff on radiation safety and best practices.
  • Advise on patient imaging and therapies procedures for standard and non-standard cases.
  • Write comprehensive reports for new procedures, equipment and techniques, including commissioning reports and work instructions.
  • Be the radiation protection supervisor (RPS) in his/her area.

What you'll bring:

  • MSc or higher degree in Medical Physics.
  • PhD or equivalent experience.
  • Membership or fellowship of IPEM or eligible for membership.
  • Registered Clinical Scientist under HCPC.
  • Certified as a MPE under RPA 2000.
  • Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of Nuclear Medicine to advanced level.
  • Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of PET to advanced level.
  • Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of molecular therapies to advanced level.
  • Practical/programming skills of NM computer systems.
  • Practical skills of imaging equipment, radiation monitors and assay equipment.
  • Evidenced experience in use of PACS, EHR and other key IT systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, national standards, professional and other guidelines, relating to the safe and proper use of radioactive materials (e.g. IR(ME)R, EPR, IRR, ARSAC).
