PHP Software Engineer!
Are you ready to take your software development skills to the next level? Our client, a leading Internet Service Provider, is on the lookout for a talented Software Engineer to join their vibrant Development in Birmingham on a fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in building a new centralised system that will enhance their business operations.
Position: Software Engineer
contract Type: Fixed Term (9 months)
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 annually
Working Pattern: Full Time
Why This Role Exists:
The Software Engineer will be instrumental in designing, developing, and testing high-quality software applications. You'll collaborate closely with other engineers and stakeholders to bring their projects to life and ensure that they meet their business needs effectively.
Your Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and test robust software applications using PHP and object-oriented programming principles.
- Collaborate with team members to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practises.
- Troubleshoot issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes.
What They are Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Software Engineer with a strong grasp of PHP and object-oriented programming (Laravel is a plus).
- Familiarity with JavaScript, React, and modern Front End technologies.
- Experience with MySQL databases and querying.
- Knowledge of working with APIs and containerized applications (Docker).
- Clear understanding of source control best practises (especially GitHub).
Experience:
- 4+ years in a similar role.
- Agile development experience and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of handling PII and working within GDPR.
Personal Skills:
- Ability to thrive in a team or self-manage with changing priorities.
- Strong written communication and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Capacity to juggle multiple work streams and prioritise according to business needs.
