THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to provide support in the development of embedded software for cutting-edge defence applications. This role is ideal for professionals with expertise in C, C++, and/or Ada, who have experience working in real-time environments and model-based development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and support embedded software using C, C++, and/or Ada.
2. Work with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) to deploy software solutions.
3. Utilise model-based development techniques, employing UML tools such as Rhapsody or Matlab/Simulink.
4. Perform analytical design, critical analysis, and software reviews.
5. Implement software on ARM-based processing platforms.
6. Collaborate with firmware and electronics teams, with a desirable understanding of firmware and electronic design.
7. Apply modern software development best practices, ensuring high-quality and maintainable code.
8. Ensure compliance with industry standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178B/C, and restricted coding standards including MISRA and SPARK.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

1. Strong proficiency in embedded software development using C, C++, and/or Ada.
2. Experience in real-time software design and implementation.
3. Understanding of software deployment on Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and ARM-based platforms.
4. Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct design reviews and critical evaluations.
5. Experience with model-based development methodologies and tools.
6. Familiarity with firmware and electronic design principles.
7. Knowledge of software safety standards and restricted coding standards.
8. Understanding of defence and aerospace software standards such as DefStan 00-55 and DO-178B/C.
