THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to provide support in the development of embedded software for cutting-edge defence applications. This role is ideal for professionals with expertise in C, C++, and/or Ada, who have experience working in real-time environments and model-based development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and support embedded software using C, C++, and/or Ada.
- Work with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) to deploy software solutions.
- Utilise model-based development techniques, employing UML tools such as Rhapsody or Matlab/Simulink.
- Perform analytical design, critical analysis, and software reviews.
- Implement software on ARM-based processing platforms.
- Collaborate with firmware and electronics teams, with a desirable understanding of firmware and electronic design.
- Apply modern software development best practices, ensuring high-quality and maintainable code.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178B/C, and restricted coding standards including MISRA and SPARK.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Strong proficiency in embedded software development using C, C++, and/or Ada.
- Experience in real-time software design and implementation.
- Understanding of software deployment on Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and ARM-based platforms.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct design reviews and critical evaluations.
- Experience with model-based development methodologies and tools.
- Familiarity with firmware and electronic design principles.
- Knowledge of software safety standards and restricted coding standards.
- Understanding of defence and aerospace software standards such as DefStan 00-55 and DO-178B/C.
