Description

Our Scottish casualty team advise insurers and corporate clients in their defence of claims of all values, types and complexity. We are part of a larger national team whose clients are a mix of leading names in the insurance industry, the health and social care sector, and household name corporates, and we deal with all aspects of defender litigation with the focus predominantly in Employer and Public Liability claims but also assisting with large loss motor claims.


What you will do?
  • You will be part of a small but well respected team assisting 2 partners, Louise Gallagher and Gillian Rushbury as well as 2 associates and in addition to your own cases will assist the team in the investigation and preparation of higher value cases.
  • Instructing experts and counsel and collating accompanying documents.
  • Drafting pleadings and preparing inventories of productions and reviewing medical records and reports.
  • Investigating liability, speaking to witnesses and discussing liability and quantum issues with clients.
  • Drafting letters and reports to clients.
  • Attending consultations and pre-trial meetings.

Who you are
  • A qualified solicitor with at least 6-9 months' litigation experience.
  • You will be an enthusiastic solicitor with knowledge of and demonstrable interest in civil litigation commensurate with your level of experience and a proactive approach towards claims investigation and resolution.
  • You will be able to deal confidently and professionally with a range of clients and colleagues on day to day issues. You will be able to demonstrate a reasonable level of self-sufficiency, combined with an awareness of the boundaries of your own competence/authority.
  • You will have the ability to adopt a commercial perspective where required and have strong legal research skills and some exposure to appearing in court.
  • You will be a team player with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team.
