Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical/Counselling or Forensic Psychologist, who is interested in joining our friendly multidisciplinary team supporting people with complex mental health problems. The role is available as a full-time post consisting of two parts - 0.6WTE in Community Mental Health Rehabilitation and Enablement Service (CMHRES) and a 0.4 WTE post in Intensive Case Management for Psychosis (ICMP), or 0.6WTE in CMHRES only.

Main duties of the job

In this post, you will be working closely alongside other professionals (OT, nurses, doctors) providing support and interventions focused on improving the lives of individuals with complex and enduring mental health problems in the community. The service is a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of professionals, aiming to improve quality of life, promote hope, recovery, and individual resilience. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with individual patients as well as join in the development of group interventions and be part of the family consultation service. The role includes working closely with other professionals, supporting the development of therapy skills and knowledge within the team, providing consultation to the team, alongside participating in community team assessments and crisis work.

You would be a member of a friendly and supportive team/teams. Both CMHRES and ICMP teams are based at the Erith Centre, with a free car park and access to local shops.

You would have access to regular individual supervision as well as specialist supervision groups (e.g. EMDR, CBTp, FIP etc.) depending on your specialist training. There are regular psychological therapies training events, and the Trust is highly supportive of staff accessing further specialist training such as CBTp, FIP, and EMDR.

You would have the opportunity to work with a wide spectrum of clients with differing levels of need and severity and at different life stages (excluding first episode psychosis). Person specification Education & Qualifications

• Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology, including psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, lifespan developmental psychology as certified by the BPS.
• Current HCPC registration as Practitioner Psychologist
• Willingness to undertake Advanced Training in CBTp and Family Intervention in Psychosis if not yet completed.
• Two or more distinct psychological therapies
• Advanced Diploma in CBT (for Psychosis or SMI)

Experience

• Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings.
• Experience of working with a wide variety of service users from across the whole life span, presenting with problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity while maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse, and the threat of physical abuse.
• Experience of delivering cognitive behavioural therapy with clients experiencing psychosis.
• Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.

Skills

• Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention, and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
• Ability to work as part of a wider team of professionals.
• Ability to use outcome measures and ability to integrate these into therapy.
• Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
• Ability to provide a culturally competent and non-stigmatising service including an awareness of the potential impact of discrimination and disadvantage on mental health.
