Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic band 7, Infectious Disease Dietitian to cover a 1-year maternity leave position at St Mary's hospital, Paddington. This post is advertised as part time doing 3 days a week; however, there may be opportunities for additional ad hoc working days across a range of clinical caseloads.

The post includes both outpatient clinics and a small inpatient caseload supporting those living with HIV and other infectious diseases. You will be responsible for the delivery of a high quality, evidence-based clinical dietetic service as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team. It is anticipated that your clinical experience and knowledge will contribute to the development of this specialist service. You will provide highly specialist dietetic support for this patient cohort.

Main duties of the job
  • The post holder may lead a team and be responsible for providing an advanced standard of care to patients at Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust, which covers a multi-cultural and diverse population. The post holder will supervise the work of other more junior staff and support workers. The post holder may be rotational and will be expected to work across all sites of the ICHNT. The post holder will assist the Clinical Lead in contributing to the planning, coordination, development, and evaluation of the service. Together with other senior staff, you will act as a resource of specialist advice to the rest of the therapy service and other professions.
  • For therapy services where there is current weekend working, the post holder is required to work at weekends as part of their contracted hours of work once they have completed the relevant induction and achieved the required competencies (specific rota details are held locally within departments).
  • For physiotherapy services where there is an on-call service: The post holder is required to participate in the overnight on-call rota and will do so once they have completed the relevant induction and achieved the required competencies (specific rota details are held locally within departments).

Person Specification Education/ Qualifications
  • Evidence of CPD through maintenance of a portfolio, especially in the relevant clinical area
  • Clinical Educators course or equivalent
  • Membership of the Professional Organisation
  • Membership of Professional special interest groups relevant to speciality
Experience
  • Significant recent clinical experience in the relevant clinical area
  • Experience of multidisciplinary goal planning, development of care pathways, and using outcome measures
  • Experience of service development/change management
  • Experience in implementing evidence-based practice in speciality
  • Previous Band 7 or equivalent experience in relevant post
  • Leadership of a therapy team
  • Recent, relevant work in an NHS environment
  • Clinical research experience
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of assessment and treatment approaches for the effective management of relevant conditions
  • Advanced skills in the appropriate application of a range of techniques and approaches to the management of relevant conditions
  • Knowledge of the influence of psychosocial and cultural factors on health/illness behaviours
  • Ability to organise, prioritise, and delegate as appropriate and manage time effectively
  • Knowledge of recent NHS developments and their impact on service provision
  • Advanced computer skills for presentation and data analysis
