Job overviewLONG COVID - BAND 6 OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 occupational therapist to join the Long Covid Pathway. This role involves working across the Long Covid pathway, from assessment to group and 1:1 intervention in the community.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, skilled and highly motivated to work in a continuously developing service. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in development of the future of this service. As an occupational therapist in this service, you will be utilising your core occupational therapy skills in both physical and mental health to support service users to develop the skills to self-manage their symptoms.
You will be supported by a Band 7 and Band 8A occupational therapists and a cohesive multidisciplinary team to develop your skills.
Main duties of the job- To manage a specialist caseload within the Long Covid rehabilitation pathway based at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital Trust using clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to support assessments using a client-centred approach and current evidence base to assess, treat, implement, evaluate and document Occupational Therapy interventions.
- Assessments and Therapeutic interventions may occur in the outpatient clinics, community clinics or the patient's home.
- To be responsible for the assessment, treatment, implementation and documentation of Occupational Therapy interventions within the Long Covid pathway.
- To develop positive and collaborative working relationships across Health and Social Care.
- To be responsible for the maintenance and development of your CPD and continuous learning.
- To supervise and develop therapy assistants.
- To be responsible for the education of Occupational Therapy Students on Fieldwork Practice.
- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC Registration
- Postgraduate experience in physical disability
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Experience in acute and community settings
- Experience in mental health
- Experience in physical disability
- Ability to work autonomously with individuals and groups
- Knowledge and understanding of activity/occupation in relation to work and wellbeing.
- Application of Occupational Therapy models of practice and evidence-based practice in relation to client centred care
- Ability to analyse tasks and activities, synthesise findings and develop goal orientated treatment plans
- Ability to manage and recognise differences of opinion in both patient related and inter-professional settings coping positively with interpersonal tensions/barriers.
- Ability to positively manage exposure to patients and environments, which may be highly distressing, antagonistic, open to aggression, and unpleasant.
