Specialist Paediatric Dietitian-Paediatric Dietetics
Posted 11 hours 12 minutes ago by NHS National Services Scotland
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is a permanent full time position.
The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Friday, 8.30 to 4.30pm.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Dietitian, with a passion for paediatric dietetics, to further develop their knowledge and skills. Our rotational posts have the opportunity to work in a specialist area such as gastroenterology, cystic fibrosis, neonates, renal and oncology. The remit also includes support to our acute wards and outpatient services.
Although paediatric experience is preferred, we are also inviting applications from dietitians who are interested in paediatrics as a career but have perhaps not had the opportunity to work in this area yet. In this case, an experienced band 5 candidate could be offered a band 5 to band 6 progression post. You would be supported through a competency framework and successful completion would result in a band 6 position. Funding for the BDA post-registration paediatric modules may also be available.
The Paediatric Dietetic Service has a team of 30 Dietitians, based across 4 sites: Royal Hospital for Children, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley, Inverclyde Royal Hospital and the Vale of Leven Hospital. The Royal Hospital for Children is one of the largest paediatric centres in the UK and is a national and tertiary referral centre for a wide range of paediatric specialties.
Successful candidates will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team with a Lead Dietitian, medical, nursing and other AHP colleagues. You will work within a larger clinical team of dietitians and receive excellent peer support and opportunities for personal and professional development. You will also participate in the Scottish student clinical placement programme.
You will have a BSc in Dietetics or equivalent and be registered with the HCPC. We invite applications if you can demonstrate a core knowledge of nutrition and growth with evidence of relevant work experience and post graduate training, either in paediatrics or other relevant specialities in the acute setting, such as complex nutrition support.
