The Department of Medicine for the Elderly is delighted to invite applications for a resident ST3+ equivalent doctor in Geriatric Medicine at University College London Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic and resourceful individual to join our well-established and dedicated team.
Main duties of the jobWe provide acute frailty services and community support for older people, inpatient and outpatient services, liaison for older people in other specialties across the Trust. We are committed to high quality patient care and developing innovative service models and as a teaching hospital have a strong interest in teaching, training and research. In the next year, we anticipate further development of our acute frailty service, rapid access and specialist outpatient services, at an exciting time for the department.

Person specification 1. Education/Qualifications/Training- Medical Degree
- MRCP or equivalent
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
- Valid ALS certificate or equivalent
- Completion of Internal Medical Training/ACCS training, or equivalent, and able to work at level of medical registrar
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
- Ability to teach and facilitate in a multi-professional setting
- Interest in developing skills in medical education
- Ability to assess acutely ill patients
- Familiarity with acute/general medicine
- Experience in working with MDTs and engaging in discharge planning
- Experience of teaching formally and informally
- Evidence of innovation in the development and delivery audit/quality improvement work
- Commitment to education and training
- Ability to multi-task effectively on a number of projects simultaneously
- A highly organised approach and the ability to prioritise effectively
- A flexible approach, good leadership and communication skills
- Teamworking abilities
- Ability to work under pressure
- Able to consider problems, seek advice and support from others, take decisions, and propose and implement solutions
