Milestone Street Lighting is currently looking to recruit a Street Lighting Design Manager to work across our sector based in the East of England. As the Street Lighting Design Manager, you will be part of our Street Lighting Team who are responsible for over 400k assets across the portfolio.

The role is to lead the lighting design requirements for Milestone and the street lighting sector, delivering design and specialist services to enhance our offering to our clients. The role requires the individual to oversee all designs and personnel involved in design services to ensure we deliver comprehensive services in relation to street lighting design and the wider operational growth of the sector.

As the Street Lighting Design Manager, your duties & responsibilities will be:

• To be accountable for leading and managing the Design Team to deliver their job purpose and to monitor their performance.
• To manage the resourcing of a varying project workload.
• Produce, monitor and maintain programme(s) to ensure work is on schedule.
• To assist in the preparation of tender submissions and forecasts.
• To liaise with clients regularly and frequently, attending internal and external meetings as required.
• To participate in internal management meetings and delegate work.
• To develop relationships within Suffolk County Council to enable operational works to be implemented.
• To ensure effective management of sub-contractors and suppliers in conjunction with the Commercial Team/counterpart.
• Understand and ensure that financial targets are met in terms of cash flow and profitability.
• Provide mentoring, training, development and encouragement to staff to ensure the design team are resourced with sufficient staff, competent and motivated for the role expected from them.
• Ensure a regular and robust timetable of internal meetings are implemented with designers for which you are responsible.
• To play a prominent role within the Street Lighting Senior Leadership Team.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

• Hold the Institution of Lighting Professionals Exterior Lighting Diploma Level 4 and a full member of ILP.
• An experienced Programme Manager.
• Full understanding and application of CDM.
• Ability to assess the impact of risk and opportunity and respond appropriately.
• Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to customers.
• Ability to proactively develop plans, initiate and evaluate change to bring about service improvements through working/consulting with stakeholders including staff, members and partner agencies.
• Ability to provide an environment where staff are clear about their objectives, empowered to achieve them and held accountable.
• Significant experience in a Design Management role in Street Lighting.
• Competent in Electrical Design.
• Experience in leading staff with confidence.
• There is a requirement to be registered with the engineering council to a minimum of IEng.
