Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Engineer to join the Wing Analysis Engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Approve F&DT deliverables and lead the resolution of F&DT problems through the use of appropriate methods.
  • Responsible for the technical scope of assigned projects and tasks.
  • Contribute to engineering solutions and ways of working borne from experience in aerospace, other industries or research environments.
  • Support the development of less experienced team members on both technical and behavioural aspects.

Key Attributes:

  • Experience and know-how of structures engineering and analytical techniques.
  • Good knowledge of overall aircraft structural design principles and techniques.
  • Hold or be close to holding approval signatory in F&DT analysis.
  • Ability to step back and propose new ideas.
  • Studied engineering and have a structural analysis background, particularly fatigue and damage tolerance.

Repair Stress Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Repair Stress Engineer to join their Engineering team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform static strength analysis for repairs using approved methods and tools.
  • Create, compile and co-ordinate static strength justification reports and associated engineering documentation.
  • Ensure all tasks and activities required for Repair Engineering are correctly planned, monitored and executed to achieve customer time scales.
  • Work in conjunction with the Repair Design and F&DT Engineers to develop optimum repairs.

Key Attributes:

Essential:

  • Experience of how airframe repairs are developed and justified.
  • Manage multiple priorities to time, cost and quality in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience of static analysis of aircraft structures using a range of hand and computer methods.
  • Understanding of the fundamental methods of static stress analysis and an ability to develop these methods.
  • Knowledge and experience of using static strength analysis tools and methods (including ISAMI and Mathcad).
  • Experience of compiling static strength justification reports to Aerospace standards.
  • Aerospace Engineering degree (or equivalent) and relevant engineering experience.

Desirable:

  • Conversant with technical requirements for repair design.
  • Some knowledge of the application of FE analysis.
  • Stress Engineering background, aerospace preferred.
  • Delegated signature for structural analysis (or significant development towards).
