Job Description
Our client, a prominent organisation in the building and railway sectors, is currently seeking a Chartered Structural Engineer to join their team in London. This contract position will have you working primarily on heritage and refurbishment projects within the buildings discipline.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and manage structural engineering projects for the refurbishment and preservation of heritage buildings.
- Conduct site inspections and structural assessments to ensure compliance with building regulations and safety standards.
- Collaborate closely with architects, contractors, and heritage conservation officers to maintain the historical integrity of the buildings.
- Prepare detailed structural designs, calculations, and specifications.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Attend client and project meetings, including site visits across London.
- Ensure all projects adhere to safety, legal, and regulatory requirements, with a focus on sustainability and innovation.
- Chartered status (CEng or MIStructE) is essential.
- Experience in structural design, particularly in heritage and refurbishment projects.
- Strong knowledge of relevant structural software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis software).
- Experience with the design of steel, timber, masonry, and concrete structures.
- Familiarity with UK building regulations and heritage conservation guidelines.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to challenges.
- Ability to commute to the London office for 3-4 days a week, including site visits.
- Strong communication and team-working skills.
- Experience in working with listed buildings or buildings in conservation areas.
- Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and materials.
