System Administrator - VMware & Automation Specialist

Our Ottawa based client is looking for a Systems Administrator - Virtual Infrastructure, for a long term HYBRID Contract. The successful candidate must currently possess a valid Government of Canada Security Clearance and the SECRET level.

The candidate must demonstrate experience in VMware environments, infrastructure automation, and scripting to support a large-scale, multi-tiered production environment. The ideal candidate will bring both independent and collaborative experience in designing and supporting infrastructure-as-code solutions in a 24/7/365 setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and support VMware vSphere 8.x, including VSAN, NSX-T, SRM, and EMC RP4VM
• Work with VMware vRealize/Aria Orchestration & Automation, Ansible Tower, and Azure DevOps
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages
• Deploy and support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Azure
• Provide system administration support, especially with VxRail, VSAN, and Dell PowerEdge infrastructure
• Participate in technical decision-making and ensure stability in a high-availability, large-scale environment
• Work independently or collaboratively in cross-functional teams

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere 8.x and associated technologies
• Proven experience scripting and developing automation/orchestration solutions
• Demonstrated expertise in system administration and infrastructure management
• Experience supporting enterprise environments with 24/7/365 uptime requirements
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
