System Administrator (m/w/d)

Convergent Science is headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, U.S.A., and has offices in the United States, Europe, and India.

For our location in Linz, Austria, we are seeking a full-time System Administrator.

This position involves managing and optimizing a variety of IT systems, including Linux servers, networks, firewalls, and HPC environments. The role focuses on ensuring the smooth operation of these diverse technologies and IT Security. Candidates with strong problem-solving skills and a readiness to take on new challenges are encouraged to apply.

• Manage and maintain Linux servers and applications, including virtualization solutions
• Manage and maintain network infrastructures
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues across both Linux and Microsoft environments
• Deploy, configure, and oversee HPC clusters
• Develop and update system documentation

• In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, system administration, and shell scripting
• Familiarity with open-source software and an interest in hybrid systems (Linux & Microsoft)
• Experience with parallel/cluster file systems (Ceph, NFS) is a plus
• Previous experience as an HPC Linux Systems Administrator or in a similar role is highly desirable
• Knowledge of network technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs) and virtualization platforms
• Professional fluency in written and spoken English
