Role description:

Provide professional leadership primarily in Offshore Renewable Energy and Energy Storage projects at a senior management level, establishing and consolidating relationships with clients, taking ownership for the delivery of the region's technical capability, supporting the delivery of projects or specialised components of projects.

Support the development of Arcadis capability in Offshore Renewables and Energy Storage and build and maintain a professional reputation as an individual and for Arcadis.

Take a leadership role with the project team, providing direction and leading by example where appropriate.

Manage the delivery of projects in accordance with Management Systems to meet time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets.

Manage all aspects of the client relationship so that delivery meets or exceeds client expectations.

Working to ensure maximum client satisfaction, championing client care and proactively working with the client.

Promote both the regional and global culture of the business.

To provide temporary embedded support to key clients as required.

Role accountabilities:

  1. Lead by example to promote continual improvement in SHE performance across the business.
  2. Build relationships with clients to identify and realise business opportunities and to ensure that client expectations and Arcadis' commercial objectives are met or exceeded.
  3. Engage with and champion the involvement and inclusion of Arcadis Global Design resources, facilitating two-way feedback on the performance of project teams using Arcadis Global Design resources.
  4. Provide technical leadership at a subject level.
  5. Evaluate technical competence of staff proposed for projects and identify specific training and mentoring needs.
  6. Take technical line management responsibility for the development and performance management of team members to support the delivery of Arcadis' business.
  7. Support recruitment process and are personally involved in the selection process of Principal Engineers and Associate Technical Directors.
  8. Lead the technical delivery of complex projects ensuring client satisfaction, effective project management and good communication and collaboration between Arcadis colleagues.
  9. Ensure that local staff understand the benefits of their utilisation as team resources.
  10. Lead on the design of innovative engineering solutions for clients that resolve complex problems.
  11. Coach and mentor engineering professionals to support the development of Arcadis' talent pool.
  12. Through an effective review process, oversee the delivery of projects to time, meeting both quality and budgetary targets, whilst striving to exceed client expectations.
  13. Perform independent technical review for complex and/or major projects.
  14. Encourage innovative and entrepreneurial thinking amongst team members.
  15. Promote and market all facets of the company's services during client interfaces.
  16. Manage technical client relationships with key clients and plays a major role in selling.
  17. Promote effective and efficient bid management.
  18. Provide input into specific technical aspects of individual bids to support the production of high-quality winning pursuits.
  19. Keep up to date with developments in the industry sector and with technical and legislative developments and seek out opportunities to develop a strong professional profile at a National level (e.g. conference presentations, publications and participation in technical committees).
  20. Maintain records of Continuing Professional Development and are able to make these available for audit by their professional institution.
Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Significant knowledge and track record in an Offshore Renewables Engineering role.
  2. Significant knowledge and track record in an Energy Storage Engineering role (particularly BESS).
  3. Can identify the limits of both their personal knowledge and skills and the limits of their team's skill and knowledge.
  4. Exercise sound holistic independent judgement and take responsibility.
  5. Understand and comply with the Code of Conduct operated by professional institution.
  6. Plan, carry out and record CPD and encourage others.
  7. Engage with activities promoted by professional institution.
  8. Demonstrate appropriate professional standards, recognising obligations to society, the profession and the environment.

  31. Have extensive consulting experience on large scale/highly complex projects.
  32. Able to identify, review and select techniques, procedures and methods to undertake engineering tasks.
  33. Can contribute to the design and development of engineering solutions.
  34. Implement design solutions and contribute to their evaluation.
  35. Conduct appropriate research, relative to design and appreciate its relevance within own area of responsibility.
  36. Undertake the design and development of engineering solutions and evaluate their effectiveness.
  37. Implement or construct design solutions and evaluate their effectiveness.
  38. Have a thorough understanding of Arcadis service lines and demonstrated capability to integrate these into a coherent programme.
  39. Understand market backed pricing for a wide range of services in specialist discipline.
  40. Use sound knowledge of statutory and commercial frameworks within own area of responsibility and have an appreciation of other commercial arrangements.
  41. Demonstrate sound judgement on statutory, contractual and commercial issues in relation to own area of responsibility.
  42. Sound knowledge of sustainable development best practice.
  43. Manage engineering activities that contribute to sustainable development.
  44. Have a BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  45. Achieved Chartered or Incorporated Engineer professional status, or equivalent.
  46. Previous relevant experience including leadership of the development and implementation of engineering solutions.
  47. Lead continuous improvement in sustainable development.
