Job Description

We are seeking a Technical Writer to develop and maintain high-quality documentation that supports both our internal and external users. This role will be critical in producing clear, structured, and user-friendly content for our API, Data and Risk Exchange Digital Platforms. The ideal candidate has a strong background in developer-focused documentation, API reference guides, and customer-facing technical content, particularly related to insurance operations, underwriting, MGAs, and data submissions such as BDX (Bordereaux) files.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain reference guides for customers interacting with the Accelerant API platform.
  • Develop structured and intuitive API documentation to guide developers efficiently in using the Platform API.
  • Work closely with engineers to ensure accurate and up-to-date API docs.
  • User Documentation
    • Produce clear user documentation for the Risk Exchange Digital Platform and the Accelerant Data Platform.
    • Write step-by-step guides, FAQs, and troubleshooting content to support customers and internal teams.
    • Maintain consistency in tone, terminology, and structure across all documentation.
  • Customer-Focused Technical Content
    • Develop documentation that helps customers interact with the Data Platform and supporting services.
    • Focus on providing clear, detailed instructions for the submission of BDX (Bordereaux) files into the risk platform.
    • Work with internal underwriters, MGAs, and insurance professionals to ensure documentation aligns with insurance data standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Documentation Process & Tools
    • Work with product and engineering teams to document new features, updates, and workflows.
    • Use industry-standard tools to create and manage documentation, such as:
      • API documentation tools (Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, Redocly)
      • Documentation platforms (Markdown, GitHub Pages, Confluence, ReadMe.io)
      • Content management & publishing tools (MadCap Flare, Docusaurus, MkDocs)
Required Skills/Experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in a software or SaaS environment.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, and developer workflows.
  • Past experience in the Insurance or Financial sector.
  • Experience writing API reference documentation and developer guides.
  • Knowledge of Bordereaux (BDX) file submissions or insurance data structures is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand API requests and responses.
  • Comfortable using API tools like Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or cURL.
  • Familiarity with version control tools like Git/GitHub is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and structured documentation.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills to interact with engineers, product managers, and industry stakeholders.
