How will you make an impact in this role?

This is an extremely exciting and dynamic opportunity to lead the Brand team within the UK Card Services Demand Generation organisation. You would lead a team of three direct reports to continually elevate the health of the Amex brand in the UK, generate brand demand in support of our aspirational UK growth goals, and champion world class marketing across all parts of our UK business.

2025 is a seminal year for the Brand team, and as its leader your priorities would include:

  • Developing and embedding new ways of working which build on our highly positive relationship with our global brand team to deliver multiple above-the-line Brand advertising campaigns within a new approach to UK creative strategy and media investment and which tells a cohesive story across experiences like Wimbledon, American Express presents BST Hyde Park, the F1 British Grand Prix, Somerset House Summer Series and All Points East.
  • Being the UK Enterprise's Brand Champion, ensuring that your team provides practical, actionable advice to Amex marketers, and stewardship through established brand governance processes.
  • Continuing to raise the bar on marketing excellence by leading our inclusive marketing efforts (including the learning programme, internal process enablement and delivery of diverse media strategies) and embedding new ways to provide consistent and constructive feedback to our agencies.
  • Leading the team behind the Amex Unsigned music initiative, finding new ways to leverage our platform and partnerships to Powerfully Back emerging artists with storytelling through an engaging, social-first content strategy.

You would work closely with colleagues and senior leaders in the UK market and the global brand team to maximise return on Brand and sponsorship investment, drive brand reappraisal and relevance, and increase brand consideration amongst prospects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work across the Enterprise to develop and deploy large scale Brand campaigns in broadcast and addressable channels, optimising media and creative tactics to support acquisition and billings growth.
  • Lead and inspire a team of three direct reports and a larger integrated agency team, driving change through robust and universally-understood measurement approaches.
  • Ensure brand governance worthy of a world-class brand is adhered to across the UK business, the review process remains robust and marketers can upskill their brand knowledge.
  • Development and deployment of objective and insight-led brand marketing strategies to support growth.
  • Closely collaborate with product, acquisition, partner and experiential marketing colleagues from across the UK business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Seasoned B2C or B2B marketer with significant experience developing and delivering end-to-end marketing activity across both ATL and BTL channels including media buying, agency engagement and marketing excellence processes and policies.
  • Exceptional people leader, effective at building and cultivating interpersonal relationships and having demonstrated the ability to develop talent and inspire followership.
  • A finger firmly on the pulse of culture and a commitment to innovate, driving relevance by understanding where our prospects consume media and how to connect to them.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills; ability to build and develop deep relationships and communicate with confidence and gravitas to gain buy in with and without authority.
  • Track record of tenacity to deliver marketing innovation through complexity with a constant focus on governance and control outcomes.
  • Proven ability to focus, prioritize and optimise use of resources across the organisation to deliver results.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to deal with ambiguity and rapid change, all with a good sense of humour.
