Job Description:

JOB TITLE: UX Designer (12-Month FTC)

LOCATION: London
SALARY: £70,929 - £78,810
HOURS: Full Time
DURATION: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time in the London office. Occasional travel to other group locations (e.g. Leeds, Manchester, and Edinburgh), may be required.

About this opportunity:
As a UX Designer, you will be part of a design team supporting the Security area of Lloyds Banking Group. You will collaborate closely with engineers, product owners, and consumers to understand user needs and behaviours. You will employ rapid prototyping and user testing techniques to craft and refine end-to-end consumer-centric journeys and North Star experience visions for various security products and services.

What You'll Do:

  • Work in a technically focused environment, balancing complex security outcomes with consumer needs.
  • Craft the end-to-end user experience, bringing together a cohesive journey step by step.
  • Bring designs to life through Figma and feel confident in running user testing sessions.
  • Balance business requirements with user needs, gathering user research and rationale to align stakeholders on individual user needs. You'll know when to diplomatically push back, if necessary, to act on what's right for the customer.
  • Be adaptable to the technical constraints of different platforms yet still be able to give guidance on creating the best possible end-user experience.
  • Advocate customer inclusion, ensuring designs are inclusive and accessible to customers of all ages, backgrounds, and technical abilities.
  • Collaborate closely with other designers, product owners, and engineers.

What You'll Need:

  • Strong, demonstrable experience as a UX Designer.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and driven to achieve individual and collective goals.
  • Experience in running usability research sessions, creating an environment that encourages innovation and learning.
  • Comfortable being the UX expert in a team of Security colleagues, leading all aspects of UX, talking with users and building outputs.
  • Excellent prototyping and layout skills, clearly articulating these to internal customers and development teams.
  • Comfortable using and building on existing design systems, proactively recommending new ways to improve and extend them.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, an innovative approach to problem-solving, and credibility when dealing with senior audiences, with the confidence to provide a healthy challenge where appropriate.
  • A collaborative mindset, working closely with a multi-disciplinary team, and a desire to see designs through to delivery, communicating with developers to ensure designs meet specifications and can be used by a broad range of users.

Desirable Experience:

  • History of communicating with users to understand their needs and balance these against outcomes.
  • Some experience as a Visual Designer.

About Us:

Lloyds Banking Group is the UK's leading bank with over 30 million customers and its biggest digital bank, with over 18 million active online customers. We've placed an ambitious transformation programme and a multi-channel approach to banking at the heart of our strategy to be the best bank for customers, backed by significant investment in our platforms and people. We serve millions of customers every day, from individuals and families to large businesses and corporations. At the heart of our organisation, the Chief Security Office (CSO) plays a vital role in keeping our customers, colleagues, and data safe. They lead everything from property security to colleague security education and preventing cyber-attacks. You will be joining the Enterprise Experience Design Team, working across the CSO Platform. You will work directly with feature teams to help them consider how consumers experience their products and services, aiming to build effective security experiences that deliver consumer and security value.

About working for us:

Our focus is to ensure we're inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms. We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture.

We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer initiative. And it's why we especially welcome applications from under-represented groups.

We're disability confident. So if you'd like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%
  • An annual performance-related bonus
  • Share schemes including free shares
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
  • 30 days' holiday, with bank holidays on top
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
