Department Description The EPC team is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and monitoring investment opportunities for in Europe for the private credit strategies available at HPS. The EPC team works closely together with the global investment teams including the direct lending and mezzanine teams in the US.
Position Description HPS is recruiting a VP to join the European Private Credit Team. The ideal candidate will have prior experience at a private credit platform, demonstrate excellent quantitative ability and modelling skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills. This person would lead the evaluation and execution of private credit investment opportunities across Europe, and work in lean deal teams.

- Opportunity to join the European Private Credit team of a leading global private credit manager
- Analyse a broad spectrum of investment opportunities across the capital structure - from direct lending unitranche deals through to subordinated debt and equity transactions - considering the relative value and pricing of risk
- Lead the evaluation and execution of private credit investment opportunities across Europe, working in lean deal teams
- Responsible for developing and substantiating an investment thesis, and providing investment recommendations to senior professionals and Investment Committee members
- Negotiate term-sheet level commitments and contribute to deal structuring
- Monitor the performance of existing portfolio companies, considering both opportunistic and defensive ideas during the investment horizon
- Develop relationships with private equity sponsors, management teams, advisors and industry counterparts
- Provide mentorship and training to junior members of the team
- Prior experience at a leading private credit platform, underwriting direct lending and/or subordinated financing transactions, or previous experience in leveraged finance, M&A or direct investments at a top tier bank
- Demonstrates excellent quantitative ability and modelling skills
- Solid comprehension of legal documentation and deal structuring
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic, who is a proactive and analytical thinker
