Job Description

Wood is looking for a Reward leader with strong people leadership and broad reward experience in the UK plc environment to become the Vice-President of Reward. The role reports to the President Total Rewards and is a core part of the Reward and Mobility centre of excellence leadership team, whilst being responsible for developing and executing the global reward short- and long-term strategic plans. This role provides leadership, global oversight, and expertise of the following aspects:

  • Fixed reward - salary and job architecture
  • Variable reward - short- and long-term incentives both cash and equity based
  • Executive compensation and corporate governance
  • Employee benefits

The role has accountability for developing and executing the reward strategy in conjunction with the President Total Rewards and Business Unit HR Presidents and regional reward teams, ensuring that Group wide reward policies, processes and plans support the Group's strategic agenda, attract and retain, comply with relevant regulations, laws and best practice and do not lead to inappropriate risk taking. In tandem, the individual would support the President Total Rewards with executive compensation analysis, remuneration committee support and Board activity as and when required.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for designing and articulating the Group's reward proposition and managing Group related policies.
  • Develop global reward strategies in line with business requirements, legislation and reward trends ensuring they support the Group strategy of being internally fair; externally competitive.
  • Provide dedicated support to the HR Presidents with the collation of joined-up reporting and delivery of strategic goals, in conjunction with the regional reward teams.
  • Work with business stakeholders and HR colleagues to ensure compensation strategy, policy and processes are aligned with, and support, business strategy.
  • Provide direction to the regional team ensuring processes are efficient and high data integrity is maintained. Project management of global programmes and initiatives.
  • Work with regional teams to determine and develop reward plans and priorities, providing support to deliver plans as required.
  • Review and analyse appropriate market trends to develop programmes to aid retention and attraction.
  • Work closely with the finance, legal and tax teams, as well as the business units, to ensure the creation of effective plans including affordability.
  • Ensure effective vendor selection and vendor governance to achieve excellence in service delivery and performance. Manage ongoing vendor relationships to ensure they provide the appropriate level of support, governance, reporting and communications and understand the dynamics of the global and local business.
  • Keep abreast of global external market developments concerning practices and regulations and evaluate their potential impact, proposing change when appropriate.
  • Evaluate existing reward policies to ensure good practice and sound management.
  • Support the design, implementation, communication, and maintenance of global and business unit, where applicable, reward programmes, ensuring consistency of methodology applied.
  • Managing the relevant reward plans in their area of responsibility, including review of suitability, application, and deliverables. Ensure any online toolkits are fit for purpose and are maintained and governed.
  • Managing the compliance of reward plans in each jurisdiction, ensuring compliance with all relevant authorities. Ensuring any relevant filings are made where required.
  • Manage all relevant processes in their area of responsibility ensuring effective liaison with regional compensation and benefits teams to ensure correct administration.
  • Ensure effective and timely communications and provide HR training and support on all relevant reward matters.
  • Support regional reward teams in complex reward issues as required.
  • Support the President Total Rewards and relevant peers in the delivery of the Directors' Remuneration Report.
Qualifications
  • Degree educated and possibly further professional qualification in reward.

Knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Extensive Reward experience.
  • Global reward practices, and governance requirements of a UK PLC.
  • Executive compensation analysis experience.
  • Working collaboratively with a global team across different geographies.
  • Experience of managing compensation arrangements.
  • Highly commercial and business focused - must be able to demonstrate experience and credibility.
  • Ability to think strategically; operationally and pragmatically.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Numerate and analytical, with strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Experience of delivering multiple projects against specific timelines.
  • Knowledge of global reward programmes to be able to advise colleagues in other businesses on global reward policy and its effective application locally.
