Location: London, The Wellington Hospital

Hours: Full Time (37.5hrs) per week - Monday - Friday

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Competitive and Excellent Benefits

Due to recent expansion, we are seeking a highly motivated Ward Manager to join our acute nursing team on our newly opened 14-bed dedicated Acute Medical Ward at The Wellington Hospital-the UK's largest private hospital, rated 'Good' by the CQC. This ward supports our on-site Acute Admissions Unit, providing exceptional care to medical patients in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

About the Role

As Ward Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day clinical and operational management of our new inpatient medical ward, ensuring the highest standards of patient care through effective leadership. You will oversee both the nursing and administrative teams, fostering a positive and supportive environment.

This role offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in complex wound management and tissue viability, work alongside some of London's top consultant physicians, and gain experience in complex discharge planning. You will also play a vital role in geriatric care, delivering patient-centred, holistic care that prioritises the well-being of older adults. As our ward specialises in caring for geriatric patients, our nurses have the chance to build strong relationships with their patients, offering support to both them and their families as they transition back to their home environments.

You will also play a key part in upholding quality and governance standards, working closely with the Matron to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. Engaging with consultants is a crucial aspect of the role, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported while their patients are under our care.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to budget management and strategic planning, helping shape the direction of the ward. As this is a new project, you will be instrumental in developing a specialised medical service, ensuring patients receive exceptional, personalised care.

What You Will Bring

  • NMC Registered Nurse (RN Adult)
  • Previous ward management experience within a medical ward
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritise patient care effectively
  • Knowledge of current professional and nursing issues
  • Experience in continuous improvement and service development

This is a unique opportunity to shape and develop a new medical ward, making a real impact on patient care and hospital operations. Interested? Apply today and be part of our journey!
